Two-way business texting in GoHighLevel, registered and compliant
Texting is often the fastest way to reach a lead, and GoHighLevel puts two-way SMS, bulk texts, and missed-call text-back in the same inbox as your email and calls. It only works if your number is registered for A2P 10DLC and your consent practices hold up. We handle both, then track which texts turn into booked work.

What GoHighLevel texting costs
As of September 2026, HighLevel's phone pricing guide lists US SMS at $0.00747 per segment, charged on both outbound and inbound messages, plus per-message carrier fees that vary by carrier (roughly a third to half a cent). MMS costs more. A local number is $1.15 per month. A segment is about 160 plain-text characters, and emojis shorten it.
A2P 10DLC has its own pass-through fees: about $24.50 one-time for low-volume or sole-proprietor brand registration (about $71.91 for standard), $10 per month per standard campaign ($3 for 501(c)(3) charities), and $15 for each extra campaign vetting. Approval can take two to six weeks, so start early. Agencies may resell usage at their own rates.
Compliance basics (not legal advice)
Under the TCPA, marketing texts need prior express written consent. Honor every STOP and opt-out, and keep marketing texts inside 8am to 9pm in the recipient's local time; some states are stricter. The FCC's one-to-one consent rule was vacated in January 2025. This is general information, not legal advice, so talk to your attorney about your situation.
Common texting mistakes we fix
- Texting before A2P 10DLC approval, so messages are filtered or blocked
- Forms with no SMS consent checkbox or language
- Bulk blasts to old lists that trigger carrier filtering and opt-outs
- Long messages that quietly double or triple the per-text cost
- Missed-call text-back turned off or still using the default message
FAQ
GoHighLevel text messaging: FAQ
How much does GoHighLevel charge per text message?
HighLevel's pricing guide lists US SMS at $0.00747 per segment, for both sending and receiving, as of September 2026. Carrier fees are added per message and vary by carrier, and MMS costs more. A segment is about 160 plain-text characters, so a 300-character text bills as two. If an agency manages your account, it may resell at a different rate.
Do I need A2P 10DLC registration to text from GoHighLevel?
Yes, if you send business texts from a US local number. Carriers filter or block unregistered 10DLC traffic. Registration involves a brand and a campaign with sample messages and opt-in details. Fees are about $24.50 or $71.91 one-time for the brand plus $10 per month per standard campaign, and approval can take two to six weeks.
How does missed-call text-back work in GoHighLevel?
When someone calls your GoHighLevel number and nobody answers, GoHighLevel automatically texts the caller with a message you write. It keeps the lead engaged while your team is busy. Each text is billed at the normal SMS rate. We customize the message for your business and route replies to the right team member.
What happens when someone replies STOP in GoHighLevel?
Replies with opt-out keywords such as STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE turn on Do Not Disturb for SMS on that contact, and GoHighLevel blocks further texts to them. You can also turn on compliance settings that add opt-out language and sender identification to outgoing messages. Respecting opt-outs is required under the TCPA and carrier rules.
Can I send bulk text messages in GoHighLevel?
Yes. From Contacts or a smart list, you can send a one-off SMS to selected contacts immediately, at a scheduled time, or in drip mode, which sends in batches over time. Only text people who gave consent, keep quiet hours in mind, and use drip mode for large lists so your team can handle the replies.
